Audit your website in 15 minutes (guide)

You do not need to be a developer to know whether your website has serious problems. These 6 steps take 15 minutes and identify 80% of the issues that are killing your traffic and conversion.

Step 1 — 3 minutes
Run PageSpeed Insights

Go to pagespeed.web.dev. Enter your URL. Click "Analyse". Wait 60 seconds.

Look at two numbers: Performance on Mobile and SEO. If Performance is under 50, your site is slow and you are losing visitors. If SEO is under 80, you have technical SEO issues that are suppressing rankings.

Step 2 — 2 minutes
Check HTTPS everywhere

Click every internal link on your homepage. Does the URL always start with https://? If any page loads with http://, your site has a security problem that browsers flag to users and Google penalises in rankings.

Step 3 — 2 minutes
Cookie banner check

Open your site in a private/incognito window. Does a cookie banner appear before you do anything? Is there a real "Reject all" option? If not, you may be violating GDPR. UK ICO is actively fining businesses for this.

Step 4 — 3 minutes
Mobile check on a real phone

Open your site on your smartphone (not simulated in Chrome developer tools — on an actual device). Can you tap every button? Does the menu work? Are there any horizontal scrollbars? Can you read the text without zooming?

Step 5 — 2 minutes
Check your meta titles

Right-click any page, "View Page Source". Search for <title>. Is there a title? Is it unique to that page (not "Home" on every page)? Is it under 60 characters? This is the most visible SEO element.

Step 6 — 3 minutes
Contact method test

Pretend you are a new customer who wants to get in touch. How many clicks to find a phone number, email or contact form? If it takes more than 2 clicks, you are losing enquiries. Every additional step to contact you is a percentage of leads that drop off.

What to do with the results

Write down every problem you found. Group them by severity: things that are breaking (SSL, no cookie consent) vs things that are just bad (slow, no contact). Fix the breaking things first.

If the list is long and you are not sure where to start — send us the list. We will tell you which issues to prioritise and give you a quote for fixing them.
